Using and Creating Geoprocessing Tools in ArcGIS 9.0

Over four-hundred geoprocessing tools for managing, converting and analyzing data are included with ArcGIS 9.0. A new framework for finding, managing and executing these tools has also become an integral part of the ArcGIS user-experience. This seminar will review some of the most commonly used tools and show how tools can be utilized in ModelBuilder to capture and automate data workflows.

The automation of tasks and creation of custom tools using a scripting environment, such as Python, is also covered in detail.

The seminar will be 60% slides and 40% demonstrations. While an introduction to geoprocessing in 9.0 will be given at the start of the seminar, advanced topics will be covered. Experience with Python is not required for the scripting section."

The focus of the seminar will be the creation of custom tools using ModelBuilder and Scripts.

Audience: All ArcGIS users

Introduction to ArcGIS Data Interoperability with Hands-on exercises

The new ArcGIS Data Interoperability integrates tightly into the ArcGIS framework and can be used in a number of powerful ways. This session presents an overview of the ArcGIS Data Interoperability, focusing on how it can be used within ArcCatalog, ArcMap, ArcGlobe, ModelBuilder, the geo-processing command-line, and scripting. Attendees will leave the session knowing how the ArcGIS Data Interoperability allows users to work directly with data in different formats within the ArcGIS environment.

Hands-on option: This seminar will be setup so you are able to try out the ArcGIS Interoperability extension your self.

Audience:    All ArcGIS users

Presenter:  Don Murray, President Safe Software,
Moderator: Jens Kudsk Jensen, Sales & Marketing Director, Informi GIS
